Transforming Amundsen High: FitnessFactory.com Ushers In A New Era for the Vikings!

Roald Amundsen High School is a public four-year high school located in Chicago and serves as a community staple at the intersection of the Ravenswood, Andersonville, and Lincoln Square neighborhoods.

Opened in 1930 and designed by architect Paul Gerhardt, the school serves as a tribute to the legendary Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen. Known for leading the first expedition to reach the South Pole on December 14, 1911, Amundsen's spirit of adventure lives on through the school’s students and staff. Fittingly, the school’s athletic teams are known as the Vikings.

The Vikings have a long-standing history of dominance within the Chicago Public League (CPL) and the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), particularly on the soccer field:

• Boys’ Soccer: 5-time Public League Champions and 4-time Regional Champions.
• Girls’ Soccer: 1998 CPL Champions and 2-time Regional Champions.

To keep that winning tradition alive, athletes need a training space that matches their ambition.

Over the last several years, FitnessFactory.com has partnered with Weight Room Coordinator and coach Nick Olson and Athletic Director Daniel Jeske to transform the school’s dated training area into a world-class facility.

We’ve replaced an inadequate and uninspiring space with a top-of-the-line weight room that students, athletes, and staff are proud to call home.

The new facility features Body-Solid Commercial Squat Racks, including the SPR1000 Power Racks and SPR500DBL Double Hack Racks. The SPR500DBL is designed specifically for high schools, colleges and universities, police and fire departments, and military facilities, offering the versatility of two fully functional half-rack stations in the space of a single power rack. This was an ideal pick for Amundsen's weight facility.

In addition to that, the space includes functional trainer attachments for the racks, allowing for versatile movements and sports-specific cable training. It also features premium weight benches and dumbbells for foundational strength, as well as kettlebells and specialized accessories to enhance any workout.
